About 5.5 million gamers play World of Warcraft, making it the largest US MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) of all-time. Korean games like Lineage have probably had higher player totals at one time or another.

My point (and I do have one) is that online games are big business. That extends to the buying and trading of “virtual currency” and other digital assets created within these online worlds. These goods are bought and sold on online exchanges and auction sites, and are becoming a multi-billion dollar business.

Virtual Economies tracks the industry of online exchanges for game goods. The directory has more than 50 links to sites that buy and sell game assets, game gold and game accounts.
